The Labour Government has short-changed Derbyshire schoolchildren by more and more each year since 1997, according to figures uncovered by the Liberal Democrat MP, Paul Holmes. Ten years ago, the average pupil in Derbyshire received £230 less than the England average. Now, pupils in the county receive almost £400 less per year.

Chesterfield MP, Paul Holmes has joined a campaign to protect our natural world by signing the Letter to the Future, a major new campaign run by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB).

Paul Holmes MP for Chesterfield, has helped to bring about changes which could transform local support for the thousands of people with autism who feel isolated, ignored and often at breaking point. Along with the National Autistic Society (NAS), Paul Holmes has been calling for dramatic improvements in health, social care and other public services for people with autism through backing the adult autism strategy published on the 3rd March.

This morning a Parliamentary Committee finally agreed to pay Chesterfield Borough Council the £1.84 million shortfall on the Government's Concessionary Bus Fares scheme for 2010-2011.

Chesterfield MP Paul Holmes has welcomed official figures, uncovered by the Liberal Democrats, which show that around one in five workers in Chesterfield would no longer have to pay a penny of income tax under Liberal Democrat tax plans. Paul said, "Gordon Browns abolition of the 10p tax rate hit the poorest the hardest, Vince Cables tax plans would reverse this."

On Tuesday 2nd March. a Parliamentary Committee is due to finally agree to the Government's recommendation to pay Chesterfield Borough Council the £1.84 million shortfall on the Government's Concessionary Bus Fares scheme for 2010-2011.

Leading in the Commons for the Liberal Democrats during the annual police funding debate, Paul Holmes, MP for Chesterfield and Liberal Democrat Home Affairs Spokesperson challenged the Minister over the continual under funding of Derbyshire Police.
